Streamlining Content Strategy with an Editorial Calendar
With an increase in team members and content requests, the marketing team at Wavo needed a system to plan, organize, and schedule content production. I built an editorial calendar with Asana to track and assign all pre-publication content activities. My responsibilities: build an editorial calendar, develop processes for each content type (blog, video, social post, etc.), and break down content production into weekly sprints.
The Goals:
Build an editorial calendar with a macro view (top-level view of marketing activities) and micro view (information about an individual content piece).
Give other teams visibility into content strategy and posting timeline.
The Approach:
Use project management tool Asana to build an editorial calendar.
Tag content with relevant keywords (business lines, platforms, audiences, etc.) and add publishing dates that provide context for content teams.
The Results:
Saved time planning content with templates and was able to estimate time to complete each content piece.
Moved from last-minute content production to planning out content on a quarterly basis with multiple stakeholders.
